Lessons for life from running
This year I celebrate a decade of running. The following lessons keep me going.
Instead of fighting headwinds—use them. Decrease speed. The winds always change and will be at your back soon.
Statistics improve as you cover more ground.
During fatigue, it will take more effort than it did before to maintain the same pace and form. Trust your capability to make it to the end.
Time passes, and one day you just don’t want to go after it anymore. Give this mood and emotion time. Maybe you change your course anyway and that’s ok. But maybe you keep going, understanding that a passing thought nearly sabotaged a worthy goal.
A 2018 Nike campaign once hung on my wall that read, “It’s only a crazy dream until you do it.”

The campaign. I keep it in a binder now, filled with collected remedies, encouragement and wisdom for weathering life.
